- The Alcatraz tour ticket package contains tour activities that are operated by different tour agencies. It is your responsibility to complete any given tours at the correct time and location.
For Alcatraz tour & Bike Rental Package:
Must pick up bike(s) on the date you selected during check-out. Customer must sign a bike rental waiver before picking up bicycle(s). Helmets are provided and required for bike rentals. This package includes the use of a bicycle for up to 48 consecutive hours. The 48-hour rental period ends once the bicycle is returned.
For Alcatraz tour & Bus Tour package:
You will receive e-ticket for the bus tour along with the Alcatraz Tour Ticket via email.
The hop-on hop-off runs from 10am to 5pm daily, departs every 30 minutes. There are 16 stops in San Francisco and you may start at any time, at any stop. You may use the bus ticket on a different date than your Alcatraz tour ticket date.

You will receive a voucher for the bay cruise tour along with the Alcatraz Tour Ticket via email.
The 1-hour bay cruise tour runs from 11am to 6pm daily, departs every 1.5-2 hours. You can redeem your bay cruise voucher for any departure time on any day.

Tour Length
You can stay on Alcatraz Island as long as you like, but we recommend allowing at least 3 hours. You will first take the ferry ride to the Island, and then follow a 45-minute Cellhouse audio tour and walk around the Cellhouse building. You will have the option to explore the rest of the Island and its historic exhibits on your own pace. There are multiple ferries returning to Pier 33 from the Alcatraz Island and you can take any of these ferries once you are finished touring the island. It is necessary to arrive 30 minutes prior to your Alcatraz tour departure time because the ferries leave on time.
Walking Alcatraz Island
The roads and walkways on Alcatraz are steep. The distance from the dock to the Cellhouse is approximately 1/4 mile (.4km) and the elevation change is 130 feet (40 meters), the equivalent of walking up a 13-story building. The roads and walkways are wide with several places to stop along the way to rest and take in the breathtaking views. Food & Beverage
Picnicking and consuming food on Alcatraz Island is allowed at the dock area from the picnic tables to the restrooms only. Bottled water is allowed on all areas of the Island. Food and beverages are available for purchase at Pier 33 Alcatraz Landing, and on board all Alcatraz Cruises vessels. Alcoholic beverages are available for purchase only on ferries departing Alcatraz Island for Pier 33.
